Subject: Recoil Zone Newsletter: MX300 version replacement

Your MX300 version replaced with the full version, at no cost???
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey,
A "Recoil friend" who lives in Las Vegas (the home of Westwood studios, distributor of recoil) just told me that he went over to the office of Westwood Studios. He went to complain about the bundled version of recoil that came with his MX300 sound card. He complained because there was no multiplayer feature in it and that the MX300-Version was actually some sort of beta. Westwood replaced his version with the full retail version at no cost!
I know a lot of you guys have got the "MX300" version also. So that's why I'm using this mailing list for it. I won't say that westwood will replace everyone's copy or so. But if you happen to live in Las Vegas or close to that, you can give it a try. For all the other peoples I will try to contact Westwood and ask what they'll do now. Since it now becomes very attractive to buy a MX300 soundcard with the recoil "beta" version it would be insane if Westwood had to replace everyone's copy. First MX300 needs to stop selling their sound cards with a beta version. If any of you people have recently bought a MX300 sound card WITHOUT any version of Recoil, please let me know.
This is the E-mail I received from DaRkSkY:
I got in contact with a women at Westwood Studios who gave me the full retailed boxed version for my Diamond MX300 sound card bundled version of recoil. The bundled version of RECOIL was missing all the multi-player maps. When you went to play the game multi-player and westwood online where shaded out because they were not even on the install cd. I saw that they had some kind of multi-player software on it but no multi-player capabilities. The little 4 page booklet said that it supported multi-player and westwood online. I can even e-mail you the scanned booklet if you want. I sent it to Zipper about 9 days ago trying to argue with them about how they ripped us off and I didn't even get one e-mail back. I e-mailed Diamond Multimedia about 5 times about it. All I got was mostly auto-responses and one guy telling me there was something wrong with my ipx and tcp/ip. I sent about 6 e-mails to Westwood Studios with auto responders and about 3 e-mails from a women who first said they were looking into it. Then the next time she asked if it was my tcp/ip. I finally got an e-mail from here giving me her number because I mentioned earlier to her that I live 3 blocks away from them. I called her and she asked if it was my tcp/ip or ipx. I explained the whole thing over again to her and she said she would get a hold of marketing. The next day (today) she calls me and says that if I go down there I can exchange my copy for a nice boxed full retail version of Recoil (with a big manual). So I went up there and got my nice Recoil box exchanged for my sorry bundled version. The lady started blaming someone in marketing or something for this problem. I was just happy that someone finally listened. It was never a ipx or tcp/ip problem. How could of it been? It had no multi-player capability. You guys both know I like to play multi-player. Justice has been served!
Thanks if you read all of this. I know it's long and informative. If someone would of just listened the first time to what I was saying they would of new they were wrong. I can't believe they made the mistake in the first place. I have no idea how they plan on doing this for everyone else that has the bundled version of recoil. I should call her again tomorrow and see what they are going to do about this. I will let you know what she says. Until then my fellow recoil buddies.
What I (KILLERBEE) would like to add to this is that it's now Zipper Interactive who ripped us off. They are just the developer and they've made an awfullly kick ass game!!! Westwood arranges all the promotion of the game and therefore it's Westwood's mistake which they also admit..... but now..... what are they going to do about it?

New Design coming up for the Zone
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's right.... i've been working very hard on a new design and i hope to have it finished by next week..... just keep an eye on our site as we introduce a "message board" (to post and find answers to al your (technical) problems) and the "multiplayer center" which will allow you to easily find other people that are online and ready to play some recoil.
We'll keep you informed,
Greatings,
